2018 Eisner Award Submissions Now Open

Comic-Con International have just announced that submissions for the 2018 Will Eisner Comics Industry Awards are now open. The awards are given out every year to people and publications involved within the comic book industry.

The Eisner Awards first began in 1988, named for writer/artist Will Eisner (a comic book legend who popularised the term “graphic novel”) and have been held annually since to celebrate outstanding work and other achievements within the comic book industry.

The tentative categories for the 2018 Eisner Awards, taken from the Comic Con website, include: best single issue/one-shot, best continuing series (at least two issues must have been published in 2017), best limited series (at least half of the series must have been published in 2017), best new series, best limited series, best publications for kids and teens, best anthology, best humor publication, best U.S. edition of international material, best graphic album–new, best graphic album–reprint, best reality-based work, best adaptation from another medium, best digital comic, best webcomic, best archival collection, best writer, best writer/artist, best penciller/inker (individual or team), best painter (interior art), best lettering, best coloring, best cover artist, best comics journalism periodical or website, best comics-related book, best scholarly/academic work, and best publication design.

All physical submissions from publishers and individuals should reportedly be sent before the deadline of March 16th to:

2018 Eisner Award nominees will be announced in April, and voting will commence for comic book industry professionals at the time of the announcement. The awards themselves will be held on the evening of July 20th at Comic-Con in San Diego.
