10 Reasons to Start Watching WWE Again

6. Gigantic Curveballs Everywhere

21-1

Whether you’re a wrestling fan or not, you probably heard about The Undertaker losing his Wrestlemania winning streak to Brock Lesnar in a match which shocked fans everywhere. That match was over two years ago now, but WWE continue to shock its audiences, particularly at Wrestlemania 32 where few matches were easy to call.

Even the smarkiest of Smarks & Spencers would find it hard to predict where the company will be going next. Although spotting a squash job is still easy, the matches are becoming more competitive and surprise returns are hard to predict. Unless you’re John Cena in which case you tell the whole world your return date like a total fart.

7. The Divas Are No More

When it’s not putting feminism back to 1956 with its chauvinistic love triangles (Fandango, blech), the WWE is now investing some serious time into making women’s wrestling great again. Total Divas is still a thing, though. Can’t win them all.

Sure, The Divas Revolution became more of an embarrassing marketing campaign than an actual push for the division, but now that the Divas division itself has been put in the bin and there’s an emphasis on the women actually wrestling, the future couldn’t be brighter. As long as the likes of Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch keep being brought to the fore, the women might one day make the main event on PPV like they did in NXT.

8. They kinda listen to the fans now

Believe it or not, WWE are listening to the fans when it comes to Roman Reigns; he’s selling the second most merchandise in the company right now. Yes, he is a wank pheasant, but WWE are just dealing with demand – the whole fanbase isn’t just located in arenas across America.

The fan service in the company is pretty consistent elsewhere, though. People were clamouring for the return of women’s wrestling, they got that. People were sick of The Authority, they brought in Shane McMahon to appease them. They wanted more wrestling and less talking, they’re on their way to doing that. Hell, even Cesaro looks like he is having one almighty push as he isn’t far away from the IC title. As long as the fans keep making their voices heard, WWE will eventually listen.

9. The Tag Team Division

The story of how The New Day turned themselves from embarrassing babyfaces into the most entertaining stable in wrestling over the past decade is an impressive one. They’re currently atop the pile of a genuinely exciting and burgeoning tag team division – quite the turnaround from when Los Matadores were contenders.

Enzo Amore & Big Cass and The Vaudevillains are two promoted NXT teams currently tearing it up with both worthy of being tag champs at some point. Enzo & Cass are all about their work on the mic, but are improving in the ring; it’s the opposite case with The Vaudevillains. We can look forward to some fantastic feuds over the coming months, for sure. And that’s without even talking about Bullet Club.

10. Bullet/Balor Club

Ever since Finn Balor dropped his NXT championship to Samoa Joe at a house show, speculation has been rife that a main roster call-up isn’t far away. Considering how most of his merchandise has been marketed as ‘Balor Club’, could Finn, a founding member, become part of a repackaged Bullet Club? It seems like it’s almost certain.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are already tearing up the roster, giving ex-leader AJ Styles plenty of moral dilemmas. Whether Styles eventually returns to the formidable crew or if he fights against the Balor-led revival remains to be seen, but it’s going to be some captivating television when it eventually kicks off.
