Nintendo Switch: 10 Games We’d Love to See

The Console Wars. A long and epic dialogue amongst the gaming population as to which console is the greatest. At its most basic, it is sales figures. At its most compelling, it is a rage-fest of exclusives and processing power. At its most complex, it is simply a matter of personal opinion.

It is safe to say that a little while ago, Nintendo was at the forefront of these wars. They had strong sales figures, excellent games you could only find on their consoles, and a loyal army of fans who refused to even pay attention to the Xbox. However, since the Wii took the world by storm in late 2006 and even outsold its closest competitors, the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, Nintendo’s next offering, the Wii U, was considered a failure. Of course, the Nintendo DS continues to be one of the best selling handheld consoles to date but many regard Nintendo now as third best behind Sony and Microsoft.

So what of the Switch? Early reviews seem to be largely positive despite the lack of power compared to its competitors’ offerings, but a consoles longevity can be measured in the great games that are made available to its users. So without further ado, it’s list time.

1. Super Smash Bros.

So many of my childhood hours were poured into the GameCube playing Super Smash Bros Melee. There have been various others since then, but Smash Bros. has a strong allure to a lot of a gamers. Seeing a new upcoming title would be awesome and would definitely drive up sales figures.

2. GoldenEye Remastered

Goldeneye 007

The original GoldenEye for the Nintendo 64 probably took up the rest of my childhood after Super Smash Bros. A remastered exclusive for the Switch would be great and I doubt I’m the only one who thinks so.

3. WWE 2K18

WWE 2k17

Who doesn’t love a good wrestling game? Other games like FIFA 18 and NBA 2K18 have been announced for the Switch so I’d love to see WWE in that group as well. It would fit in well with the more social aspects of Nintendo’s marketing campaign and is a bit more hardcore than 1-2-Switch.

4. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

So apparently Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is coming to the Switch later this year. Now that’s pretty cool, but let’s throw a more recent RPG in there as well, like the absolutely superb Witcher 3. I’d love to see that on the portable screen.

5. Pokemon Stadium 3

Isn’t it about time for this game? There are rumours that Pokemon Stars will be available for the Switch later this year and that will be a Switch version of Sun and Moon. If they linked these somehow so you could use Pokemon trained on the 3DS in Pokemon Stadium 3 then they’d definitely recapture the magic of the old games.

6. Red Dead Redemption 2

It’s safe to say that the Switch is going to need some of the best upcoming games on its roster. I have read that the chances of this game being on the Switch are very, very low. It makes the list nonetheless because I’d love to see it on there.

7. Grand Theft Auto V

Trevor GTA V

Of course I couldn’t have RDR2 on here without throwing GTA V in as well. One of the best selling games of all time may just help with Switch sales as people might want to experience it on a new format. Hopefully it should be able to handle the online too.

8. Star Fox

Thinking about the games that should be on this list has been quite a nostalgic trip for me and It got me thinking about a Star Fox game with a ton of depth. Think fun, customisable, and massive.

9. Bleach

I think where the Switch could really capture a market is if it made itself the go to console for games based on animes. I’ve wanted a new Bleach game for PS4 and Xbox for a while now, but if one came to Switch I’d be just as happy. In the meantime I’ll look forward to the new Shin Megami Tensei game. Hopefully that will get a western release.

10. Kingdom Hearts 3

This game would be perfect for the Switch. As there still isn’t a release date for it, there would be plenty of time to get it ready for a new console. As the developer Square Enix is a partner for the Switch, I think they need to make this happen.

Plenty of awesome new games have been announced for the Switch already including: Super Bomberman R, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, Sonic Mania and Rayman Legends.

What games would you guys like to see on the Nintendo Switch?
