SINGLE REVIEW: JPNSGRLS – ‘Bully For You’

JPNSGRLS Bully For You video

Punk isn’t always about being angry. JPNSGRLS are happy to correct any misunderstanding you might have had on that.

The video for their latest single ‘Bully For You’ might start off violent, but that’s not what it’s all about. In fact, if anything it’s about the exact opposite of violence. Things begin in a testosterone filled boxing ring, two men willing and ready to get bloodied up and bruised. A tender moment turns the tables on the track, and the pair of fighters dance together as a peace offering. Lead singer and lyricist Charlie Kerr describes the progression as: “A Gatorade commercial that turns into Swan Lake”.

With more riffs than you’ll be able to get your head around, ‘Bully For You’ has the energy to give you an electric shock. Rough, choppy and bold, the peace settling in the video is the calm among a raging storm of music. Abandon your gender stereotypes, this is punk rock for those that know punk is about love.

‘Bully For You’ is taken from JPNSGRLS’ forthcoming album Divorce, out on July 22nd via Light Organ Records.
