Fans of cult classic animated series Invader Zim were recently treated to the first official trailer for the television movie, Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus!, at SDCC. You can check out the movie trailer here:

The show was an incredibly stylised dark comedy that depicted the titular character Zim, an alien from the planet Irk, and his attempts to dominate earth and enslave humanity. The show only aired 27 episodes and never received a conclusion due to its cancellation in 2006, which left fans wondering whether they would ever see Zim’s plan succeed.

Despite its cancellation however, Invader Zim was realised as a cult classic upon its departure and kept alive through its fandom. This eventually led to a comic series continuation in 2015, which has now developed even further with the newly animated revival movie produced by Nickelodeon.

Nickelodeon have been reviving a few of their older classics television programs recently with the likes of Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie in 2017, which concluded many narratives left open from the series, and Rugrats, which has been given a 26 episode revival and live-action movie scheduled for a future release.

Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus! is scheduled for release in 2018 and features creator Jhonen Vasquez returning as executive producer, and cast members Richard Horvitz, Rikki Simons, Andy Berman, Melissa Fahn all returning as their respective characters.
