As part of the Out of the Inn quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players are asked by Dai to locate Hearty Truffle to wake up Ollie, the inn owner, who is sleeping on a Stone Slab. Be sure to read the translation next to him here for the A Trip through History side quest too.
The Hearty Truffle can be found where the researcher suggests: at the top of the waterfall in Kakariko Village, specifically in Kakariko Village Cave.

Get to this location by following the path from the village below and doing a bit of climbing, then crouch and make your way through the hole and into the cave.

You can find some fish in here and also some precious gemstones that you can farm for materials. There’s also a Bubbulfrog in here who leaves behind a Bubbul Gem after you deal with him, but what you’re after is the Hearty Truffle. Find it in this same space, right by small “mole hill” in the middle of the room.
Return to the sleeping Ollie, then drop the Hearty Truffle next to him to wake him up, and then he will return to the inn. Be sure to pick the Hearty Truffle back up again, as you can cook it as a meal to temporarily increase your max hearts.

Speak to Dai back at the inn and he will reward you with the rather underwhelming prize of a Sticky Elixir, which helps you to stop slipping off surfaces during rain.

That’s a lot of running around and back and forth for an elixir. At least you can now chat to Ollie instead, we guess?
