It’s tiring work saving the princess and destroying 1000 tree branches in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, so sometimes you just need a change of scenery. There are even times when only certain events can be triggered at certain times of day, but as the day clock moves so slowly, it can be a pain to wait around for time to tick along. Fortunately, you don’t have to wait for that long if you know where to go.

To change time of day, players simply need to rest, whether that’s by a fireplace or in a bed. You can find a fireplace early on in TOTK around Great Sky Island at the below location.

Later, you will be able to make your own campfire with some wood and something to light it with.

Interact with the fireplace, and you will be able to choose from the following times to change to:

Morning – 05:00
Noon – 12:00
Night – 21:00

Confirm your selection, and time will fast forward.

Every five minutes in TOTK is roughly five seconds in real time, meaning that every hour is 60 seconds (1 minute) long, and every day is 720 seconds (12 minutes) long, give or take.

It’s really worth just experimenting with different times of day in Tears of the Kingdom and seeing what happens to the world around you. It’s fascinating to see how the blowing of the wind changes — Nintendo truly has crafted such a finely detailed game.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now on Switch.
