Xbox One Game Gifting Now Available To Select Preview Members

Xbox

After announcing earlier in the year that Xbox players would be getting this feature, it would appear that certain Preview Program members are currently able to gift games to friends. Windows Central are reporting that Xbox One owners in the 1710 Preview Build can access the game gifting feature and that it is fully operational.

On the Xbox One Store, the option to gift the game will appear next to the options to buy the game regularly and to see the game hub. Players will then select which of their friends they want to send the game to. On the receiving end, you’ll get an email with a 25 digit code corresponding to the game gifted. Redeem that, download the game and away you go.

Microsoft are still maintaining radio silence over this feature, so it’s currently unclear if this was supposed to be part of the latest preview build or if one of the technicians accidentally flipped the wrong switch and gifted people with game gifting. However, it is likely that game gifting will be one of the major features rolling out to Xbox One owners as part of the Fall/Autumn OS update. Either way, fans have been requesting this feature for a long time now so to see it available, albeit only to a select group of preview members, is a step in the right direction.
