Have you been stuck with xXSha0wStr1kerXx or 420blaaaaz$it as your gamertag since you started playing on Xbox Live? As charming a throwback to your naive youth it may be, you’re probably a grown-ass adult who wants something more respectable or ironic.
Luckily, Microsoft are now freeing up roughly a million old gamertags from the days of the original Xbox that you might fancy changing to on the 18th of May. However, Microsoft, the cads, aren’t giving out the list of available names, so you might have to keep trying random names until you find one that sticks. Keep an eye on their website for when you want to change your name.
On a sort of related note, my PSN ID has been LoopyFiasco for almost ten years after I was inspired by a binge on Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor. I wanted to change it not all that long ago, but I’ve grown fond of it again recently. I feel bad for PlayStation gamers stucks with their IDs from the early days of PS3, but there’s no sign if we’ll ever get the opportunity to change them.
Sort it out, Sony.
