WWE Survivor Series 2023: Match Card & Line-Up

Will he return?

WarGames is returning to our screens tonight and we here at Cultured Vultures are very excited to see this year’s dose of Thanksgiving chaos. Survivor Series hails from the United Centre in Chicago and with that comes the fabled speculation of whether or not CM Punk will finally make his return to WWE. Having left AEW behind him in a blaze of ‘glory’, Punk has dropped the occasional tease suggesting that he will be in town for the show. Whether he emerges or not, we’ll just have to wait and see, but I’m sure Chicago will be making his presence felt one way or another.

Meanwhile, WWE have strung together two epic WarGames matches to tantalise our tastebuds. As well as this, some major championship matches as well as potential unannounced surprises. Let’s run down the full card for this year’s Survivor Series.

– Cody Rhodes, Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso & Randy Orton vs. The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, JD McDonagh, Dominik Mysterio & Drew McIntyre) – Men’s WarGames Match
– Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair & Shotzi vs Damage CTRL (Bayley, Asuka, Iyo Sky & Kairi Sane) – Women’s WarGames Match
– Gunther vs The Miz – Intercontinental Championship
– Rhea Ripley vs Zoey Stark – Women’s World Championship
– Dragon Lee vs Santos Escobar

Still potentially unfinished, this card does look a little on the short side but also pretty stacked considering the stars involved. With no ‘Tribal Chief’ to headline the show, the men’s WarGames match has been pumped full of hype with a returning Randy Orton as well as the shining babyface himself, Cody Rhodes. This should be a banger and with the potential of a cash-in from Damian Priest mid-match, this makes for a very interesting watch.

Gunther and Miz have been holding down an intense build towards their IC title fight at Survivor Series. Being built around which of the two is the most iconic Intercontinental champ of this era, this could definitely be one of the best story-based matches we’ve seen in the title picture for quite some time. Gunther should not lose his title here but Miz absolutely deserves a good crack at having a major pay-per-view title match.

And of course there’s the chance of a CM Punk return as we’ve already mentioned. Shinsuke Nakamura has been dropping some very obvious hints towards wanting a match with the man himself. It would seem a little odd if all of these random vignettes led to a match with somebody that isn’t CM Punk. I mean, not only would that match be awesome (providing Punk puts in the effort), but also it’s a great way to reintroduce Punk without all the pomp and circumstance of the main-event. Nakamura has been on fire lately and would be a great first opponent for a returning Punk. Again, this is all rumour at this stage, so take it all with a pinch of salt.

Survivor Series broadcasts live tonight from Chicago, Illinois. Make sure to tune into the WWE Network or local providers for one heck of a show.
