WWE Premiere Week: Commentary Changes & Full Line-Up Announced

It's time to shake things up on the commentary tables.

WWE announced via their press release that during WWE’s Premiere Week on Fox Sports, a huge re-shuffle will be taking place on the commentary tables. Commentators from Raw, SmackDown Live and NXT will all find themselves re-homed as part of this shake-up, with the hopes of keeping things fresh for audiences of new and old.

Monday Night Raw’s first episode on Fox will be welcomed in by the team of Vic Joseph, newcomer Dio Maddin and Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. A new trio of commentators who should bring a variety of different analysis and experiences to the table, as they call the huge main event between Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio, an episode of Miz TV featuring Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin, and a United States title match between AJ Styles and Cedric Alexander.

Wednesday’s episode of NXT seems relatively untouched, as the commentary team remains the same with Mauro Ranallo heading up the table alongside Nigel McGuinness and Beth Phoenix. The familiar trio will call a handful of championship matches: The Undisputed Era vs Street Profits, Candice LaRae vs Shayna Baszler and Matt Riddle vs Adam Cole.

Kofi Kingston vs Brock Lesnar - Beast in the East

Finally, SmackDown Live’s premiere episode will see Michael Cole take on the role of play-by-play for the blue brand, alongside Corey Graves and ‘special contributor’ Renee Young. Young’s time is seemingly being split between commentary and the special FS1 post-show that we’ll see more details about in the near future. The show’s main event sees Kofi Kingston defend his WWE title against Brock Lesnar, with a massive ladder match between Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon and a Four Horsewomen tag match acting as support.

Overall this is bound to be an incredible week’s worth of WWE, with the added bonus of the season 9 premiere of Total Divas and a special blue-carpet pre-show event for SmackDown Live taking place an hour before.
