Hot off the heels of AEW’s All In comes WWE’s answer in Payback. Hailing from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Payback is centred around the ongoing drama between members of the Judgment Day as well as a marquee World Championship title fight.

Where there is still time for WWE to book a few more matches for the card, we’re currently standing with six matches, all of which being built reasonably well. At the time of writing, here is the official line-up for WWE’s Payback 2023.

– Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins vs Shinsuke Nakamura – World Heavyweight Championship
– Becky Lynch vs Trish Stratus – Steel Cage Match
– Rhea Ripley vs Raquel Rodriguez – Women’s World Championship
– Rey Mysterio vs Austin Theory – United States Championship
– LA Knight vs The Miz
– Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn vs Finn Balor & Damian Priest – Unified Tag Team Championship

One match that is picking up a lot of steam is the grudge bout between The Miz and ‘The Megastar’ LA Knight. Knight has been burgeoning on being the superstar wrestling fans wants him to become, and after his win at SummerSlam, it has nicely set him up for his first major singles feud since Bray Wyatt in January. LA Knight has to win this match, after The Miz has done such a great job at building him up as a babyface in his promos, especially whilst dressed as him.

Meanwhile, Rollins and Nakamura is destined to be a banger, with Nakamura adopting a more brutal twist on his strong style in recent weeks. Shinsuke suggests that he knows a certain secret about Seth’s wellbeing and will use that as a target during the match. It’ll be interesting to see if WWE finally pull the trigger on a well-earned major championship run for ‘The King of Strong Style’ or whether this will end up as just another flash in the pan.

WWE Payback streams live on the WWE Network and on select providers this Saturday, September 2nd.
