If you claim in any way to be a wrestling mark, then your fingers need to be in more pies than Greggs offer. And they have a lot (I live in the North, I know)

So here is a brief round-up o’ wrasslin’ bits and pieces for y’all:

– In genuinely heart-warming news, an interview with Brie Bella via E! News announced today that herself and current Smackdown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan will be naming their first daughter Birdy Joe Danielson!

The North has hardened my heart somewhat in the week I’ve been here, but that is kinda cute.

– WWE revealed today that for the first time ever, they are bringing their live show to Norwich, UK on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May.

WWE UK championship

This show, however, will be showcasing the stars of the UK Championship Tournament, along with many of the superstars from 205 Live. The official press release reads:

“WWE comes to Norwich, England for the first time ever with WWE Presents: UK Championship Live from Epic Studios on Saturday, 6 May at 7 p.m., and Sunday, 7 May at 5 p.m.

Fans will see inaugural WWE United Kingdom Champion Tyler Bate, plus Trent Seven, Pete Dunne, Mark Andrews, Wolfgang, Tyson T-Bone, Sam Gradwell, James Drake, Joseph Conners, Dan Moloney and Saxon Huxley. Also appearing will be Superstars from WWE’s Cruiserweight division seen on 205 Live on WWE Network, including Rich Swann, Akira Tozawa, TJ Perkins, The Brian Kendrick and Tony Nese.

“It’s exciting to come to Norwich for the very first time,” said Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative. “The passion of our fans in the UK makes every show an incredible, unforgettable experience.”

You can talk about WWE Presents: UK Championship Live on Twitter using #WWEUKLive.”

Not confirmed however is if Alan Partridge will be in attendance.

– Chris Jericho has announced that he will be touring with his band Fozzy across North America in May, so expect the Ayatollah of Rock and Rollah to be absent from WWE at any point post-Extreme Rules.

This announcement adds to further speculation that Jericho will be dropping the United States Championship to Kevin Owens at their match scheduled for Wrestlemania 33.

The Fozzy tour begins May 5th in Virginia Beach and finishes up May 27th in San Antonio.

– Speaking of taking time off, don’t be surprised if John Cena takes a few weeks away from WWE television after Wrestlemania 33, as Deadline reports he has landed a role in the Mark Walhberg and Will Ferrell sequel Daddy’s Home 2.

He will be reprising his role from the first film, in which he made an unadvertised cameo. Shooting is expected to begin soon in Boston, with a release date set for November 2017.

John CenaCena is also set to start shooting soon on the film The Pact, from Universal Studios.

Given the way his current on-screen feud with The Miz has brought up many real life tales regarding Mr Cena, I wouldn’t be surprised if his next scheduled Hollywood departure is mentioned as well.

– Gail Kim tweeted about her contract status, saying today that, whilst not officially signed yet, she is set to return to Impact soon.

– WWE Hall of Famer Edge (no relation) tweeted today that as of March 24th, himself and long-time tag team partner Christian will be releasing a podcast.

It’s titled E&C’s Podcast of Awesomeness and a teaser episode is currently available for free on iTunes and Stitcher.

– Sticking with the Twitter reveals, Finn Balor tweeted out a picture of his Balor Club leather jacket today, along with the caption “Back to work #wwebuffalo.”

Finn BalorStarting tonight, Finn Balor is back working Raw house shows.

Only time will tell as to when he makes his official TV return to the red brand. With Seth Rollins status still unclear, some speculate Finn could take Rollins place in a match with Triple H at Wrestlemania 33.

– Whilst there is nothing much on it yet, New Japan Pro Wrestling has opened a sub-site ahead of their excursion to the United States later this year, as part of efforts to take the brand further afield and become more of a player in the international market.

The site currently features New Japans biggest players in Hiroshi Tanahashi, IWGP Intercontinental Champion Tetsuya Naito, 2016 G1 Climax winner Kenny Omega and current IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada.

The site can be found here.

The 2017 New Japan Cup will be held this weekend. Last year’s winner was Tetsuya Naito, who went on to successfully defeat Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight title at the April PPV Invasion Attack.

– As previously reported, The Hardys, Broken Matt and Brother Nero, have recently signed with Ring of Honor. That being the case, Impact Wrestling have written the brothers off TV, with former tag champions The Decay now once again holding the belts.

However, Matt Hardy took to his Facebook page with a video to reveal what really happened.

It shows the Broken Duo continuing their #EXPEDITIONofGOLD at North Carolina based wrestling promotion, CWF Mid-Atlantic, going after the OMEGA Tag Team Championships, which they would later win that same night.
