Post-Mania episodes of Raw and Smackdown are well known for their diversity of fan service, ranging from anticipated returns to surprise debuts of NXT Superstars. This season’s first Smackdown Live was no different, with the official debut of ‘The Perfect 10’ Tye Dillinger.

Since his brief appearance in this year’s Royal Rumble, fans were left wondering what the future held for Tye on the NXT roster. Despite leaving a big impression on WWE fans, he returned to the developmental brand to continue feuding with Eric Young and the rest of SAnitY. His time in NXT however concluded at Takeover: Orlando in the opening eight-person tag match alongside Kassius Ohno, Roderick Strong, and Ruby Riot. I couldn’t think of a better send off for Dillinger, who seemed to be eternally stuck in the mid-card despite being one of the most over acts on the entire roster.

Perhaps the calling of the Curt Hawkins open challenge was just too strong for him to want to stay in NXT? Tye dominated a singles match against Hawkins, finishing with a ‘Tye Breaker’ to an ovation from the crowd. Dillinger may not have many achievements to his name, but if there’s anywhere for him to find success and be treated as a rising star, it’s Smackdown Live. I for one am very happy to see The Perfect 10 finally break through onto the main roster.
