Wrestling News: Ranallo and JBL, Ex-Impact Star in WWE, Seth Rollins Tries Out New Finisher?

Extreme Rules Seth Rollins

– Hopefully there may be some sort of conclusion in sight over the JBL/Mauro Ranallo controversy that has taken over social media and WWE recently.

According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE have since reached out to the former Smackdown commentator and are reportedly working on a settlement for Ranallo not to talk about the issue.

This has been a PR nightmare for WWE, who currently remain under pressure to fire JBL, amidst Twitter campaigns and other heavyweight news outlets such as Forbes all weighing in on the issue.

JBL has seemingly been blocking people who reach out to Ranallo on Twitter, myself included.

– In more positive news for Smackdown Live, their ‘Superstar Shake Up’ episode topped over 3 million viewers, making it the highest viewed episode the blue brand has had since the post-Draft edition, back in July last year.

– Pro Wrestling Tees have been making regular announcements that their store for The Hardys is set to be DELETED on April 17th.

Steve Corino’s shirts will also be taken down April 22nd.

– For anyone excited about Raw announcing debut of David Otunga, I’m afraid there is some bad news.

WWE.com reported that Otunga has been cast in the lead role of a new action franchise, meaning that the Harvard graduate will be away from commentary duties for six weeks.

They also pondered who could serve as his replacement.

With WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross recently revealing he had signed a new contract with the company, for as yet undetermined dates, one would have to assume that the Oklahoma native would fit very nicely into that temporary position.

– After having slayed the King of Kings at Wrestlemania 33, it looks like Seth Rollins is moving on to a new feud with ‘The Destroyer’ Samoa Joe.

And if this video is anything to go by, Rollins may well be debuting a brand new finisher very soon (skip to the 8 minute mark to see it in action):

The new finish looks to be a Ripcord in to a jumping Kneestrike, showing shades of both Kazuchika Okada’s ‘Rainmaker’ and Kenny Omega’s ‘V-Trigger’ moves respectively.

As Rollins’ rivalry with HHH is now over, it makes sense that he would no longer use the Pedigree as a finishing move.

– Rumours are beginning to surface ahead of the previously announced WWE Womens Tournament, expected to begin later this year.

Current talk suggests that Mia Yim, who many will know as former Impact star Jade, will be taking part in the tournament.
