Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty – Are There Spiders?

A little guide for all my arachnophobes.

Soulslike games such as Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty have a certain tendency to fill their games with spider-like monsters, much to the chagrin of arachnophobes around the world. With Wo Long now available worldwide, some players might be wondering whether or not there are spiders in the game, as it’s better to find out before booting the game up whether or not your arachnophobia will become too much for you.

The answer is yes, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty does contain giant spider enemies in the game, though they’re not a big part of the whole game. You’ll start running into the giant spiders first in either the Part 3 Main Battlefield stage Fall of the Corrupted Eunuch, or the Sub Battlefield stage Shadow of the Sacred Mountain, both of which are unlocked at the same time.

From that point on, spiders will become a semi-regular enemy, popping up in levels that either feature underground tunnels or forest sections. The spiders come in two size variants, the regular one being about human size, while other, smaller spiders also exist. There are no massive boss spiders, or anything of that sort, so you can take solace in that fact at least.

If you’d like to have a look at what the spider actually looks like, we’ve posted an image from the in-game Demon Bestiary below.

Speaking on an anecdotal level, your arachnophobia mileage may vary with this particular enemy. Personally, I didn’t find them to be that scary, mainly because their markings and red eyes made them feel more unrealistic, while my girlfriend thought the shape reminded them of Widow-esque spiders, therefore it was creepy. Meanwhile, she isn’t bother by Skyrim’s spiders but for whatever reason, I can’t stand them.

Even if you are an arachnophobic, it’s still worth trying to tough it out with Wo Long’s spiders, as they’re not a huge part of the game and they’re pretty weak compared to other enemies in the game. Plus, you could just send your AI partners in with a roll of newspaper to take care of the problem for you.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X & S.
