Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty – How To Play Co-Op With Friends

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

One of the biggest genres in the world right now is Soulslikes, with many developers around the world looking to capitalize on a massive explosion in popularity. Team Ninja are no exception to that, with their work on the Nioh series, but now they’re back again with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Considering the popularity of Soulslikes, and the fact that Wo Long is launching on Xbox Game Pass from day one, there’s going to be no shortage of people to play with, but how do you go about doing that?

Here’s everything you need to know about playing co-op with your friends in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.

How To Unlock Co-Op

Before you can even think about playing with your friends, you actually need to unlock the co-op feature. In order to do that, you need to complete the game’s prologue area, or battlefield as they’re referred to in-game, the Village of Calamity. Once you’ve fought with the area’s boss, Zhang Liang, and have successfully beaten him in combat, you’ll be whisked away to the game’s second battlefield, Two Chivalrous Heroes. Follow the path, raise the battle flag then rest there and you’ll unlock the Online Lobby Menu.

How To Play Co-Op

First off, if you’re playing on PlayStation or Xbox, everyone will need to be subscribed to either PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live respectively.

In order to actually play co-op by hosting a session, you can do so by selecting the Recruit option in the Online Lobby menu. You need a Tiger Seal in order to do this, but players are given one at the same time they unlock this menu. You also receive Tiger Seals fairly regularly throughout the game, so you should usually be able to summon some help throughout the game, though each individual summon costs 1 Tiger Seal. If you want to call in two players, you’ll need another one.

If you’re looking to join random players, you need to select the Respond function from the Recruit menu, and you’ll then be able to join someone else’s game in order to help them dominate their current battlefield.

How To Play Co-op With Friends

If you’re hoping to guarantee you can play co-op with friends, you can instead select the Co-op option from the Online Lobby menu. Here, you can then create a private play session on one of the many battlefields, and invite two of your friends to join you. You can also set a password to ensure that only your friends are able to join.
