Will Smith Turns Into A Pigeon In Spies In Disguise Trailer

20th Century Fox just released the first trailer for Spies in Disguise, their upcoming animated comedy featuring the voices of Will Smith and Tom Holland.

The film is being produced by Blue Sky Studios, the animation company behind the Ice Age and Rio movies, and will be released on September 13, 2019, by which time Disney will have completed their acquisition of 21st Century Fox’s film assets. You can enjoy the hilarious trailer below.

Smith will voice Lance Sterling, who has been dubbed “the world’s most awesome spy”, with Holland as his intelligent but socially awkward sidekick, Walter Beckett. We can see from the trailer that Beckett will accidentally turn Sterling into a pigeon, which is hardly surprising, considering that Spies in Disguise is based on a 2009 short film called Pigeon: Impossible. With Sterling temporarily trapped in bird form, Beckett will need to take in order to save the world on his own, which will no doubt lead to highly comical results.

Spies in Disguise will also feature the voice talents of Karen Gillan, Rashida Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Masi Oka, and DJ Khaled. It’s being directed by Nick Bruno and Troy Quane, who have both worked on other Blue Sky projects in various roles, with Emmy nominee Theodore Shapiro providing the soundtrack.

Blue Sky’s Ferdinand earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature last year, so we have high hopes for Spies in Disguise. If you’re also looking forward to it, head over to Twitter to keep track of official updates. And hey, at least it’s not another Ice Age film.
