The Aerial Assassin gave us quite a scare.

New Japan Pro Wrestling confirmed via social media that Will Ospreay had sustained a brutal neck injury that was going to take him out of this year’s G1 Climax tournament. Ospreay was scheduled to compete in tag action that same night, but unfortunately had to sit on the sidelines to rehabilitate after this untimely turn of events. Luckily, Ospreay confirmed today that he is fit to return to the tournament in his next A block match against Kota Ibushi tomorrow evening.

Will Ospreay has been on the run of his career as current IWGP Jr Heavyweight Champion. He’s picked up 2 points so far in his first ever run in the G1 Climax tournament, and hopes to continue his hot streak in this upcoming match with Ibushi. Let’s just hope that his neck holds up throughout the rest of this absolute slog of a tournament.

The G1 is known to take a toll on the participants, having to compete in marathon matches on almost a daily basis. Even the likes of Kazuchika Okada, Tetsuya Naito and Kenny Omega all succumbed to the fatigue that competing on this level brings. With Kota Ibushi being as much of a madman as he is, we’re hoping that they tone the high spots down ever so slightly, but let’s face it, they won’t.

The tournament continues tomorrow with the following matches:

KENTA vs Lance Archer

SANADA vs EVIL

Zack Sabre Jr. vs Hiroshi Tanahashi

Kota Ibushi vs Will Ospreay

Kazuchika Okada vs Bad Luck Fale
