Will Kenny Omega Compete At AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door?

This could be the clincher.

AEW’s headline attraction, Kenny Omega, has unfortunately been side-lined with various injuries after a successful run as their World Champion throughout 2021. Already, fans aren’t expecting to see ‘The Cleaner’ return in time for AEW’s next big show, Double or Nothing, which goes down on May 29th. But what about the recently announced cross-event with New Japan Pro Wrestling, Omega’s former stomping ground where he truly cut his teeth.

At the moment, details on Kenny’s status are hard to come by, but considering he won’t be able to attend DoN in Las Vegas, it’s looking fairly unlikely that he’ll be ready to go in time for Forbidden Door a month later. However, original scheduling had that Kenny would be back in AEW by the Summer, so there’s definitely a small potential for him to be ready in time for what could be AEW’s biggest show of the year.

Fans are desperate to see the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion return to action and perhaps renew hostilities with perennial rival, Kazuchika Okada, or even to step up against Jay White and his version of Bullet Club.

Omega would definitely be the star attraction necessary to make the inaugural Forbidden Door show a must-see event, but I personally won’t be getting my hopes up. I’m sure the wrestling world would much rather Kenny fulfil his entire recovery process as opposed to rushing back into the ring for the sake of a match that could easily take him out of action for even longer.
