Watch A New Batman Ninja Video Featurette

Warner Bros. just released a new video featurette about their anime movie Batman Ninja, which you can view above. The film was directed by Junpei Mizusaki, with Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki serving as character designer.

The featurette, which is called East West Batman, opens with producer Eric S. Garcia saying that the story does not see Japan through the eyes of Batman, but rather sees Batman through the eyes of Japan, which is his way of describing how anime is a vast medium rather than just a particular style or genre. The video goes on to explain how the character of Batman is perfectly suited to both the visual and narrative aspects of the anime medium, and how Batman Ninja will appeal to fans of both. Other contributors appearing in the featurette include English screenwriter Leo Chu and DC creative director Mike Carlin.

In Batman Ninja, the Caped Crusader finds himself accidentally transported to Feudal Japan, where he needs to stop some of the most fearsome members of his rogues’ gallery, including Two-Face, Penguin, and the Joker, from taking over the country. The film features the voice talents of Roger Craig Smith, Tony Hale, Grey Griffin, Tara Strong, and Adam Croasdell, and will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK on May 14.
