Ubisoft Confirm The Division 2, Full Reveal At E3 2018

The Division

After initially leaking online thanks to a German trading website, Ubisoft have confirmed that they’re working on The Division 2, and more details will be shared at E3 2018. Development will be led by Massive Entertainment, with support from Ubisoft Annecy, Redstorm, Reflections, Ubisoft Bucharest and Ubisoft Shanghai.

According to the same press release from the German site, The Division 2 will also use an updated version of the Snowdrop engine, and that the development team will be taking on board the things they’ve learned from the first game. Whether those things they’ve learnt include adding plenty of endgame content when the game launches and not later on is unconfirmed.

The news was officially confirmed in a livestream with creative director Justin Gerighty, who said the following: “It wasn’t an easy decision, but there are so many stories and so many experiences that we want to explore within the world of the Division that we really felt a sequel was the best way to explore these things.” The possibilities here are numerous, as the sequel could potentially explore things like The First Wave, other districts in New York or even somewhere else entirely.

If you’re still playing the first game, Ubisoft have news for you too, as the game will be getting two new global events, more missions available on Legendary difficulty, and an Xbox One X update that’ll re-render the game in 4K. In June, you’ll also be able to earn specific achievements that’ll translate to rewards in The Division 2, so there’s some incentive to venture back into New York.
