Triple H Presents Philadelphia Eagles With Custom WWE Championship

WWE Championship

WWE and Triple H have presented the Philadelphia Eagles with a customised WWE Championship.

The winners of SuperBowl LII – who disposed of the New England Patriots 41-33 in a thrilling encounter – have been sent the unique gift as part of WWE’s newfound tradition of “champions recognising champions”.

In a tweet directed at Eagles star player Zach Ertz, 14-time WWE and World Heavyweight Champion and current WWE Executive Vice-President of Live Events, Talent and Creative stated “you’re the World Champions…so you need a World Title!”

The title is in the current style, similar to the one currently held by reigning WWE Champion AJ Styles, with special Philadelphia Eagles side plates bolted onto it.

It is not the first time this week a WWE employee has mentioned the SuperBowl, with former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal taking a cheeky swipe at New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski.

WWE have made a habit of late of sending prominent sporting champions their own customed championship belts. It is fantastic use of PR by the company, who will receive press and attention for their endeavours whether or not the gift is accepted, or indeed wanted, by the intended recipient.

Since January 2017, WWE have sent customised championship titles to winners in various sporting disciplines, and have even branched out into recognising people for acts of heroism with their own gold strap.

The inimitable and unbeatable Serena Williams was gifted a title for winning the Australian Open in January 2017.

In June 2017, Triple H flew to London to personally present a title to PC Charlie Geunigault. The police officer was one of the heroes during the chaos of last year’s London Bridge terror attack.

Off duty at the time, PC Geunigault threw himself in harm’s way to protect others, incurring multiple stab wounds to various parts of his body. At the time, the officer was wearing a Sami Zayn shirt.

From July 2017 onward, Triple H and WWE have presented such accolades to British Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, Argentinian soccer club Boca Juniors, winners of the 2017 Baseball World Series the Houston Astros, and ice hockey’s Stanley Cup winners the Pittsburgh Penguins.
