The PS4 7.50 Firmware Update, You Guessed It, Improves System Performance

Sony have just pushed out the 7.50 firmware update for the PlayStation 4, and, as you might have guessed if you’ve been downloading these updates for the past few years, it doesn’t do much.

Even though the update went through beta testing, there’s nothing major to report, just the typical “this software update improves system performance.” You may notice the update makes navigation a little smoother, but nothing really remarkable.

It feels like the PS4 hasn’t had a significant update in a long time now, the last one probably being when it introduced folders and custom backgrounds. The UI and UX of the PS4 is definitely fine, I just wish it had a few more bells and whistles like the PS3.

With the PS5 due this winter (despite everything), it’s unlikely we will ever see a bit update for the PS4’s firmware again.

Meanwhile, the Switch just had its 10.00 update that added new avatars and the ability to transfer saves between storage. A good step, but the Switch is definitely miles behind where it should be in terms of UX and features as well.
