The New Hereditary Trailer Is A Terrifying Spectacle

One of 2018’s most-anticipated new horror movies, Hereditary, has just had its new trailer released and boy, does it look unnerving and like a hell of a strange time.

Focusing on Charlie, the seemingly disturbed young child who is the center of the movie, the trailer showcases lots of disturbing visuals at a hectic pace. If nothing else, A24’s new horror movie is going to bring something for people to talk about.

And the synopsis:

“When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter Annie (Toni Colette) and her husband (Gabriel Byrne) and their two children begin to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited. Making his feature debut, writer-director Ari Aster unleashes a nightmare vision of a domestic breakdown that exhibits the craft and precision of a nascent auteur, transforming a familial tragedy into something ominous and deeply disquieting, and pushing the horror movie into chilling new terrain with its shattering portrait of heritage gone to hell.”

The buzz surrounding Hereditary is pretty wild with AV Club describing it as “the most traumatically terrifying horror movie in ages” when it was screened at Sundance Film Festival’s Midnight section. A24 have prior experience with different and engaging horror, including The Witch and It Comes At Night, so here’s hoping it goes down as one of the best horror movies of recent times.
