Sylvester Stallone Shares Rambo’s New Cowboy Look

Rambo 5

Rambo must be tired. He has fought abusive cops, the Vietnamese and the Soviets his whole life, bringing justice to oppressed peoples everywhere. Now it looks like the traumatised veteran has left the jungles of South East Asia to finally live a gentle life — as a cowboy.

Sylvester Stallone has revealed the first two pictures of his iconic character on his Instagram as Rambo 5 finally starts filming. The first shows him in full cowboy gear, replete with Stetson, western shirt and riding gloves while the second sees him on horseback, with the tagline: “Comes a horseman Wild and Free”. The film, written by Matthew Circulnick and directed by Adrian Grunberg, will be released in Autumn 2019.

Stallone received some of the best reviews of his career and even an Academy Award nomination for his part in Creed, the extremely well-received spin-off of the Rocky series. With the cowboy-look a radical departure for Rambo, which has been suffering critically ever since the second instalment, perhaps Stallone can pull off the same comeback once again. While the plotline of the film has yet to be revealed, expect something along the lines of Clint Eastwood’s revisionist Westerns Pale Rider and Unforgiven, or perhaps even the recently acclaimed Wolverine swan-song Logan.
