Survivors Are Willing To Risk It All in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead

2021 is a busy year for Zack Snyder.

Army of the Dead

Netflix just released the official teaser for Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, and with the man’s name everywhere in the teaser (not only is he the director, he also came up with the story and screenplay), it is a hefty reminder that this film is one hundred percent Snyder’s vision.

Army of the Dead is the somewhat sequel to Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead – same outbreak but the focus is on a different group of people. The project was first announced in 2008, but never got off the ground until 2019 when Netflix acquired it.

What’s It About?

Army of the Dead, starring Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, Raúl Castillo, Michael Cassidy, and Garret Dillahunt, takes place during a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas. As the zombies gain in number and overwhelm the space, a group of mercenaries decide to take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.

It seems that money is a preoccupation even in a zombie outbreak. But the teaser does a good job, and visually, this film deviates from Snyder’s usual colour palette, you know, kind of bleak and gray (I jest, Sucker Punch had some colour, I think).

Army of the Dead will release on Netflix May 21, 2021.
