Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Next DLC Character Is Byleth From Fire Emblem: Three Houses

And there's six more characters coming.

Byleth

Today’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate stream revealed the contents of Challenger Pack 5, and it’s safe to say it’s not gone done terribly well with a majority of players. It was confirmed that the fifth character will be Byleth, the main protagonist from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Check out the trailer below.

Just like in the game Byleth appears in, you can play as both male and female versions of the character. As for their moveset, they utilise a variety of weapons that all appear in the game, including their Sword of the Creator. They look incredibly strong, to be fair, and will likely be an interesting addition to the game’s roster. Byleth also comes with the new stage Garreg Mach Monestary, with the DLC pack launching on January 28th as part of the Fighters Pass, though you can purchase the pack separately for a small amount.

There are also new Mii Fighter skins which will launch on the same day, which include a host of new Mega Man skins, a Rabbids skin for every Mii Fighter class, along with Altair from Assassin’s Creed and Cuphead. Cuphead also comes with a brand new music track, making it that little bit more special.

Lastly, Nintendo have confirmed that Fighters Pass Volume 2 exists, and will launch on the same day as Challenge Pack 5. The second iteration of the Fighters Pass will include six new characters that’ll launch between now and December 31st 2021, with each character already decided according to Sakurai, so no making requests on Twitter. It won’t make a difference.

Another Fire Emblem/sword character might be a bit too much for a roster already stacked with those types of characters, but at the very least, Byleth seems to be equipped with enough unique attacks to be a worthwhile inclusion. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments.
