Super Smash Bros. For The Switch Will Be Playable At E3 2018

Super Smash Bros

Without question, Super Smash Bros. coming to the Nintendo Switch was the biggest news coming out of the Nintendo Direct from earlier this month, and it looks set to steal the show at E3 2018 too. Nintendo have announced that Smash for the Switch will be at E3 as part of an invitational tournament.

The tournament will feature a select pool of players battling it out to determine who is the best at a game that isn’t out, but will also showcase the game at its best. Expect some high level play and plenty of excitement. The announcement at Nintendo Direct came with the news that the Inklings from Splatoon will also be making an appearance, and Splatoon 2 will also have its own tournament at E3.

Despite this announcement it hasn’t been confirmed whether or not Super Smash Bros. for the Switch will be available for press or the public on the show floor, as only the tournament has been confirmed so far. I would say “fingers crossed”, but I won’t be there so whatever. I’ll just watch the tournament from home.

The reveal of gameplay footage at E3 will also clear up the confusion as to whether or not this is revamp/port of the Smash Bros. for Wii U engine or if it’s a whole new game entirely. We’ll find out in June.
