Perhaps the biggest change and innovation to the gameplay in Street Fighter 6 is the introduction of new control types, Modern and Dynamic, which sit alongside the traditional Classic controls. If you’re a newcomer to the world of fighting on the streets, and the Classic controls seem a bit impenetrable to you, it might be worth changing to a different control type. Here’s how you can change your control type in Street Fighter 6.
Street Fighter 6 | What Are The Different Control Types?
Street Fighter 6’s three different control types allow players to customise their experience however they like. Here’s a quick rundown of the three different control schemes and how they’re used.
Classic –Â The traditional six-button set-up, Classic controls have three punch attacks and three kick attacks, with special moves executed by inputting motions along with button presses.
Modern –Â A simplified experience, Modern controls simplifies the attacks into three buttons (light, medium and heavy), with an additional button for special moves.
Dynamic –Â An offline-only control setup, dynamic automatically selects moves for you depending on your range, so players hoping to button mash can stick with this one.
Street Fighter 6 | How To Change Controls?
Changing your controls in Street Fighter 6 can change depending on if you want to play the game online or offline. For offline play, specifically in Fighting Ground, you need to head to Options on the Multi-Menu > Controls > P1/P2 Control Settings, then change the control type at the top of the menu. As for World Tour, you can change the control setting under Avatar Battle Control Type in the Controls menu.
For online play though, you need to head over to Profile on the Multi-Menu screen, then press X/Square to access Battle Settings. Here, you pick the character you want to play when matchmaking online or sitting at a cabinet in the Battle Hub, and you change controls on a character-by-character basis between Modern and Classic. Press Y/Triangle while hovering over a character, then pick your control type under the “Edit Character” tab.
Street Fighter 6 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X & S.
