SEGA and Amplitude have announced that Humankind, the upcoming historical strategy game that will encompass dozens of different cultures, has been delayed. Originally, it was scheduled to launch next month on PC, but it’s since been pushed back to August 17th.
Why Is It Being Delayed?
According to a dev blog from Amplitude Studios, the team will be working on feedback highlighted by the community during the previous Lucy OpenDev, which included 4 eras and 40 cultures. Some of the key areas that will be addressed will include Accessibility, Onboarding, Pacing, Balancing, Diplomacy and AI.
When speaking about the delay, Chief Creative Officer & Studio Head for Amplitude, Romain de Waubert de Genlis, had this to say: “It’s been exciting to see the community get their hands on the game during the last few OpenDev sessions, and to hear all the positive (and constructive!) feedback. Players have always been at the heart of Amplitude’s philosophy and releasing Humankind in August will allow us the extra time to keep working with the community and polishing the game for an amazing day one experience.”
