Starbreeze Announce Overkill’s The Walking Dead Delayed Until Late 2018

Remember Overkill’s The Walking Dead? The adaptation of the Skybound graphic novels from the guys behind Payday 2? The one that was announced three years ago with barely a sniff being revealed since? Well, if it’s all coming back to you now, don’t get too excited – it’s been delayed. Again.

Owing to the developer, the publisher, and also Skybound wanting to make sure they do the license justice, the game has been pushed back from a tentative and hopeful release window late this year until the tail end of the next, due to come out between Q3 and Q4 2018.

Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson Klint said the following:

“Together with Skybound Entertainment we are fully dedicated to releasing an unforgettable experience for fans throughout world and then continue to support it with high quality content in the coming years.”

The team will be holding a livestream on May 10 to discuss the development of the game and future plans for titles like Payday 2, System Shock 3, Psychonauts 2, and plenty of others.

Overkill’s The Walking Dead was initially due for release in 2016, but was then delayed until late this year, and now until late 2018 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The signs may not be good, but it’s going to have to do a lot wrong to match the terribleness of Survival Instinct. Heck, have some hope – it may even turn out to be one of the best zombie games on the market. We’re totally going to have to strike it off the list of awesome looking horror games to come out this year, though.
