Sorry Guys, Fallout 4 PS4 Mods Won’t Be Happening Thanks to Sony

Fallout

Fallout 4 is currently collecting dust in my digital games library. I’ve been holding out for some mods to really bring life back to it on PS4, but I think it might be time to accept that it isn’t happening and free up some space. Bethesda have today confirmed that Sony will not allow Fallout 4 mods on the PS4 along with the same result for the Skyrim remaster.

After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.

Like you, we are disappointed by Sony’s decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project, and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive. We consider this an important initiative and we hope to find other ways user mods can be available for our PlayStation audience. However, until Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available.

We will provide an update if and when this situation changes.

That’s not good. It’s embarrassing for both parties as full mod support on consoles was a big selling point for the game when it was initially revealed. It also makes Sony look a little bit scared and unprepared for modding, which is hardly ideal considering it’s not going to go away any time soon.

I was disappointed with the PlayStation 4 Pro reveal, but this is just on another level. Sony have been getting hammered by Microsoft over the past week, so expect to see some condescending tweets from the latter before too long about how the Xbox One has mod support and the PS4 does not.
