Sk8er Boi Tony Hawk No Longer Working With Activision

Tony Hawk

File this news as either good or a kick in the nostalgia feels: Tony Hawk has revealed on Twitter that he is no longer working with Activision. However, the company still own the rights to the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series.

The Pro Skater series has re-entered the public eye recently, as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 went on sale on PSN despite the servers being shut down, which subsequently deactivated the vast majority of the game’s capabilities. Naturally, as his name is on the box, many took to Twitter to ask the skateboarding legend what the deal was. This was his response:

Just hearing that Tony Hawk is no longer working with Activision is a crushing blow to my childhood self, as I spent a good portion of my life playing the series. From Pro Skater 1-4, Underground and its sequel, American Wasteland and Project 8, there’s a lot of fond memories there. Naturally, we don’t like to talk about Pro Skater 5. That never happened. Never.

Still, The Birdman has never been shy about his desire to return to the world of video games, stating back in 2017 that he’s involved in a project in the early stages of development. Is it delusional to hope that project would be Skate 4? Probably. Hopefully we’ll be able to see Tony Hawk kickflip his way into our hearts all over again sometime soon.

It was announced yesterday that more games would be joining the Xbox Game Pass program in March. Be sure to check it out.
