Single of the Week: ZUU Music – ‘Nothin’ But Fix’

nothin' but fix

Aw, man, I miss being alive during this time last week. It was so great back then, just everything about it was great. Though, my favourite part about being alive during this time last week? SINGLE OF THE WEEK, without a doubt. There was nothing else like it back then, it was amazing, but that’s in the past, that was being during this time last week, and being during this time last week was all about living in the present, not dwelling on the past. I best just accept that it’s this time this week.

So, what’s going on then? Oh, just another SINGLE OF THE WEEK BECAUSE THEY COME WEEKLY AND THIS IS MY SHOUTING WRITING VOICE WHICH CONVEYS EXCITEMENT AND BAD GRAMMAR!

If you managed to traverse that drivel, you have more than earned the awesomeness that is on offer to you this week, and if you skipped it because fuck my stupid intros, you’ve earned it for using the smarts gifted to you by that big sexy brain of yours. ‘Nothin’ But Fix’ is the track, it comes courtesy of ZUU Music, and it is nothin’ but brilliant.

ZUU Music is the masterwork of mastermind Robb Dixon, who brought together an array of talented musicians from varying musical backgrounds (each more-than-well versed in their respective genres whether it be rock, hip hop, gospel, soul, or R&B), planning to record an artillery’s worth of hip hop breaks via vintage equipment and old school recording techniques to give the breaks a real authentic feel, but produced in such a way that they could sit comfortably among a modernist sound.

Dixon then took to dissecting and remixing the masses of breaks and samples, so as to reassemble them into a Frankenstein’s monster of electronica and hip hop fusion. The end result exemplified in this week’s SINGLE OF THE WEEK, ‘Nothin’ But Fix’, a crash course in brain surgery that’s equally as hard hitting as it is chilled out, and as euphorically exciting as it is comedown contemplative. Check it out, check ZUU Music out, get on board.
