Single of the Week: Night Games – ‘Nine Days’

night games band

So, it seems, summer isn’t quite living up to all it’s supposed to be; being a bit hit and miss at the minute, if I’m honest. Especially on the weather front. Do I wish I was currently dancing my cares away on a beautiful beach somewhere, whilst the sun sets pink and purple in the background? Of course, but we can’t always get what we want, and instead I’m sat here, bleary eyed and blurred minded, as all the grey outside gradually gets a few shades darker. It’s Sunday night for me, but I know it’s likely Monday morning for you and future me, and I can only apologise for that, because whinging Sunday night me would still rather be here than there.

However, I have a way out for all of us, a way in which we can all dance steadily carefreer on a beautiful beach somewhere as the sun sets pink and purple behind us; we do it vicariously through the music video for our latest ‘Nine Days’ by Night Games, our Cultured Vultures Single of the Week – the video matching, as it does, the song’s gorgeously subdued synth sounds with sensuous slow motion footage of the dancer we’ll all pretend to be, dancing steadily carefreer on a beautiful beach somewhere as the sun sets pink and purple behind them.

Soothing visual sensations aside, the track itself is a sublime piece of sedate synth lead atmospherics that whispers with vibes of late summer evenings, winding down a long hot day poolside or beachside with a few drinks maybe relaxed and pleasantly lethargic with a few friends, maybe with peacefully passionate with a partner, maybe alone but content and contemplative, or maybe even coming down from the night before, but slowly and smoothly, still fuzzy and warm from the previous euphoria as the reality comes back over you like sinking into a cool but not cold bed of water.

Yeah, so on the basis of how easily I got carried away with that, I quite clearly want to be anywhere but here. If the same can be said for you and where you are, whilst I can’t offer you an easy escape, I can offer you a sumptuous substitute in the shape of ‘Nine Days’ and its seductive and soothing night time fun; it’s Night Games if you will…

A tumbleweed rolls by.

Anyway, great track to soundtrack the summer evenings you’re dreaming of as you dream them.

P.S. If anyone would like, and has a way, to runaway with me to a tropical wonderland, please let me know.
