Single of the Week: DRS – I Will (feat. Patlife & Vangeliez)

Is it possible for a drum and bass track to make you cry? Under very specific circumstances, yes, but I’d say DRS stands a better chance than most of making it happen. Of all the drum and bass veterans still throwing out tunes, DRS is perhaps the most consistent, both as a producer and as a vocalist. He’s arguably at his most formidable when he’s teamed up with Calibre, but he does just fine by himself, as evidenced by this new tune.

‘I Will’ is the kind of liquid track which would hold up just fine as an instrumental, but becomes something entirely new when the vocals pop in. It’s the leading track from the EP of same name, which features the likes of Calibre, Utah Jazz and others. It’s DRS’s first release since Mid Mic Crisis in 2015.

As a bonus, the video manages to walk a line between adorable and heartbreaking, as we watch DRS wondering around Manchester, playing Jimmy Stewart to a pink and blue avian Harvey. It’s surprisingly powerful, and the links to current events are much more than a way to pad things out. Pick up I Will here.
