The world is in a chaotic place at the moment. Give yourself a second to get away from it all.
The woods, with a homely campfire, sounds like an ideal place to escape to. Let that happen with Harry Pane’s new video for his latest single ‘Changing’. Soak up all the acoustic soulfulness the London based singer/songwriter has to offer, and let his voice work as a stress release mechanism through your mind.
When I say this song is a grower, I don’t mean it to the detriment of Harry’s work. The opening seconds of the track lure you in with camera work that invites you into the scene and guitar that greets you. As the song unfolds, it begins to feel as though the video is gratuitous – it adds little to the concept, if anything taking away from the simplicity of the track. It begs the question, “what else is there?”, resulting in ‘Changing’ feeling somewhat underdeveloped. In reality, it’s anything but.
In fairness, there are moments where the track would benefit from the support of a cajon, but this is minor. It’s better to sit back and focus on the weight of the lyrics. These lyrics reminisce on Harry Pane’s close relationship with his father and address issues of mental health. A few idioms are stumbled upon that deduct marginally from the sincerity of the track, but if you close your eyes and focus on the lyrics (sorry, am I being too sappy here?), ‘Changing’ is a fantastic, touching track that will appeal to Luke Sital-Singh fans.
I’d just like it a bit more if it had a cajon.
