Shangri-La Frontier is about Rakurou Hizutome’s journey to finish a video game of the same title. It sounds like an isekai anime, and it certainly feels like one, but no, it’s just about a gamer who likes trash games.
After wading through piles of bad and mediocre games, Rakurou decides to try out a good game for once. Recommended by his video game shop, Shangri-La Frontier is a AAA title that’s renowned by everyone.
Rakurou picks it up, and his adventures in-game will be the focus of the show. He’ll be using the tricks and exploits he’s gathered from years of bad games to try and breeze through Shangri-La Frontier.
Some of the skills he’s earned will help him, but he still has a lot to learn. Not to mention, he gets cursed early in the game, forcing him to play half-naked with basic armor. Join this dumpster diver of a gamer as he finally experiences what a good game is supposed to feel like.
Which Studio Is Making Shangri-La Frontier?
Shangri-La Frontier will have Kodansha as the producer and C2C as the animation studio.
Kodansha is practically a household name in the anime industry. It was established in 1909 and literally has hundreds of anime attached to its name. Attack On Titan, Your Lie In April, and Noragami are three of their most well-known productions.
C2C is a relatively smaller company compared to Kodansha. It began in 2006 and has only animated a handful of shows. Shangri-La Frontier might be its chance to show off. They’ve animated WorldEnd, Wandering Witch, and Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy.
Where To Watch Shangri-La Frontier
Crunchyroll obtained the license to stream Shangri-La Frontier internationally. It’s too soon to say if any other legal streaming service will get the rights for it. So, for now, Crunchyroll is your best bet.
There’s no list of which countries where Shangri-La Frontier will be available, especially since it isn’t out yet. You’ll have to check it yourself on release.
