SEGA’s results presentation for the previous fiscal year has revealed a couple of key details about the Japanese company’s strategy going forward, with the main takeaway being that the company is planning on creating a brand new “Super Game” that’s set to release at some point within the next five years.

SEGA Are Making A Super Game?

Yes, but we’re not really sure what this “Super Game” is going to look like. Maybe it’s a Sonic The Hedgehog X Yakuza X Persona crossover, or something silly.

Alright, it’s definitely not that, but according to a screenshot from SEGA’s presentation, which was revealed by VGC, the company believe that the game’s profitability will initially be low due to its status as a new IP, though the growth potential will be huge as it’s going to be distributed worldwide.

Any Other SEGA News From This Presentation?

SEGA also note that they’ll be creating a number of new projects over the next five years alongside the “Super Game”, such as a new FPS title from a European studio. That studio is more than likely Creative Assembly, who back in 2018 published a blog post stating that they’re working on a multiplayer focused FPS game that’ll supposedly be a fresh take on the genre.

On top of that, the presentation states SEGA’s desire to utilise IP assets in remasters, remakes and reboots in the future. SEGA detail which franchises are considered active IP, including notable favourites like Sonic, Phantasy Star, Yakuza, Total War, Football Manager, Persona the Megami Tensei series as a whole.

Meanwhile games that are considered “past IP groups” or even dormant include Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Space Channel 5, Rez, Virtua Fighter, House of the Dead, Altered Beast and Streets of Rage. Of course, some of these games have been brought back more recently than others, like Streets of Rage, while Virtua Fighter and House of the Dead are getting new games in the near future.
