SNK have announced that the long-awaiting follow-up to their fan favourite series, Samurai Showdown, will be launching in the West on June 25th for PS4 and Xbox One. A Nintendo Switch release is scheduled launch some time later in the year, with a PC release after that.

But here’s where things get interesting. Ordinarily, fighting game DLC is a bit of a joke, but SNK are offering a decent promotion to those early adopters of Samurai Shodown. Anyone who purchases the game through either digital or retail between launch and June 30th will get the Season Pass for free. You’ll have to download the DLC yourself, but it’ll unlock access to new content that’ll be dripfed over the six months after the game’s release.

The full game will launch with four modes: Story, online, training and Dojo. The Story Mode takes place before the events of the original game, and includes plenty of fan favourites characters, along with a couple of newcomers. Meanwhile, the Dojo mode will allow players to download and fight against ghosts created using the data of other players. Are you excited about the return of Samurai Shodown?
