Samurai Jack To Return In 2016, Let’s Celebrate

samurai jack comeback

The critically acclaimed, Emmy award winning Samurai Jack is making its triumphant return to television in 2016, proving that in modern TV, nothing is ever really dead. A lot of the time TV show revivals are as cynical as they sound, but something tells us this one will be more of a Doctor Who than a Knight Rider.

Samurai Jack follows the adventures of a samurai from feudal Japan in his quest to defeat the demon Aku. Rather inconveniently, Aku sends the samurai into the distant future, where the demon has had little trouble conquering the entire world. It was a kids’ show about a future dystopia, before dystopias were cool. Samurai Jack also had a distinct art style and focused a lot more on cool fight scenes than dialogue.

The announcement of a new series, which would be its fifth, comes from Adult Swim who will be airing the new episodes. It’s been a long wait for the show’s devoted fan base, having waited over a decade for Jack’s quest to continue. It almost gives us hope for Firefly.

While the announcement of a full new series has taken the internet by surprise Samurai Jack has been building some steady momentum thanks to reruns on Adult Swim and a successful comic book series. Details about the revival are near non-existent, but Adult Swim did give us this criminally vague teaser:
