Ryan Reynolds Releases Cast Video For New Movie Free Guy

Ryan Reynolds and Taika Waititi have never met before, right?

At New York Comic Con, the audience were treated to the trailer of the movie Free Guy, as well as five minutes of footage. For those of us not-as-lucky folk, Ryan Reynolds very kindly uploaded a cast video onto his YouTube channel, so we could get a first look at the cast from the comforts of our home (even though we would all rather be at Comic Con).

The cast video introduces four cast members, Jodie Comer (recent Emmy winner for Killing Eve), Joe Keery, Taika Waititi and of course, Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds and Waititi go to great lengths to pretend that they didn’t do Green Lantern together and are meeting each other for the first time, which is quite hilarious stuff. Deadpool might have gone back to clean up the timeline, but he can’t get rid of Green Lantern, no matter how hard he tries.

Reynolds plays a bank teller at a bank which gets robbed with frequency. His character soon realises he isn’t real, but a background character in a video game called Free City, a game that is about to be discontinued. The movie is directed by Shawn Levy, which is how Joe Keery came into the picture, since Levy is a producer on the Netflix show Stranger Things. Free Guy will be released in theatres July 3, 2020.
