Rust: When Is The Next Blueprint (BP) Wipe?

Wipe the pain away.

Rust

Rust is constantly updated and always changing, meaning that you can never be too sure that you know everything there is to know and have everything there is to have within the game. That goes double for blueprints, with blueprint wipes putting everyone back to square one.

The next blueprint wipe in Rust will take place on Thursday, December 2nd, 2021 as part of the December 2021 update.

As a result, players on all servers will have to relearn all of the things they can already craft by getting the blueprints all over again.

Bear in mind that Facepunch don’t keep to a specific schedule with blueprint wipes and that they aren’t a monthly occurrence, though more general server wipes tend to be. Facepunch have been known to go for well over a year before wiping blueprints.

Also, this only applies to the PC version of the game; Console Edition works on a completely different routine to its older brother.

Why Do Blueprints Get Wiped In Rust?

As to why blueprints get wiped in Rust, the answer is kind of twofold.

The first and most obvious reason is that it levels the playing field and stops the experience from getting stagnant for many players. Putting everyone back to square one can really undo zergs (well, for a little while at least) and high-level players, allowing others to scramble to get their blueprints in first and really stake a claim on a server.

The second reason is a little more speculative on our part, but it might also be to do with the load that so much data that comes from so many players with so many variables in terms of unlocks etc. can have on the performance of the game. By basically flushing it all away, Facepunch are making their jobs easier in the long run and keeping servers more stable.

Rust is available now on PC.
