UPDATE: So, the Mini Nintendo Direct happened. Lo and behold, Dark Souls Remastered was confirmed with the below trailer. The remaster will be released on the 25th of May 2018. Expect the PC, PS4 and Xbox One announcement to follow shortly.

ORIGINAL POST: If you ever wanted to feel despair and hopelessness whilst on the bus or taking a dump, this could be the news for you. According to a report from Kotaku UK, sources have verified that Dark Souls 1 is being remastered and released on the Nintendo Switch.

The remaster, which will be releasing on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC too, is supposed to be announced at a surprise Nintendo Direct Mini event, which has also been rumored to take place for the past few days. The Direct event will showcase Nintendo Switch software for 2018, with Dark Souls Remastered being the closing announcement.

After that, it’ll be announced that Dark Souls Remastered is coming to all platforms, and will feature enhanced lighting and SFX in the same vein as Dark Souls 3, as well as some upscaled textures. The engine will also be improved to support six concurrent players, which should make covenants and invasions much more interesting.

Of course, this hasn’t been properly confirmed yet. It’s possible that the report is bogus, so do take it with a pinch of salt until you see the footage. Would you like to see Dark Souls 1 on the Nintendo Switch? Let us know in the comments.
