Ring Of Honor Announce New Streaming Service

HonorClub

Ring Of Honor announced the “imminent” launch of a new streaming service as the famous independent promotion looks to battle with rivals for a slice of the massive market.

HonorClub will offer similar access and privileges to live events, old shows and pay-per-view events as WWE Network and PowerBomb TV do, following in the footsteps of promotions such as CHIKARA, Progress and Combat Zone Wrestling in opening up their present and history to fans new and old.

Besides the streaming of events and other online content, ROH have sought to rebrand their ‘Ringside Membership’ fan club, and will be rolling it into HonorClub, with fans being given a range of options via a tiered subscribing system.

For a basic $9.99 per month, subscribers will get pre-sale access to tickets for ROH events, as well as the incentive of discounts on ROH merchandise. Furthermore, the standard package will land you the keys to the promotions Video On Demand (VOD) library, including the ROH TV archives and, as per ROH’s announcement on Friday night, “historical events, compilations, interviews and more”.

There is, of course, a slight catch. Standard membership will only earn you 50% off pay-per-view events, which will still have to be bought seperately. For PPVs to be included as ‘free’, any intrepid subscribers will need to stump up $119.99 for the Annual VIP Membership.

It may seem like a large amount to drop on a streaming service, but subscribers will pay the same amount for VIP as they would for 12 months of the Standard option. Only it is paid up front. If PPV buys are taken into account, the discerning and loyal ROH fan would in fact be ‘saving’ money.

It seems the only way is up for ROH of late, with news that Supercard of Honor XII has broken ROH’s ticket sales record; a record, incidentally, held by last year’s Supercard of Honor.

The show, taking place one day before WrestleMania at UNO Lakefront Arena, New Orleans, recently added Cody Rhodes taking on Kenny Omega.

With the show set to be at full capacity of over five thousand, 2018 might just be ROH’s best year yet.
