Rockstar have announced that you’ll soon be able to play Red Dead Online without that pesky Red Dead Redemption 2 getting in the way, as they’re launching a standalone version of the online mode on December 1st. This version will be made available across PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Epic Games Store and the Rockstar Games Launcher.

A Standalone Red Dead Online?

Yes, and the standalone version will include all the features that the regular version boasts, including access to all current and upcoming content updates to boot. Players can move through one of five Specialist Roles, take on a variety of co-op story missions, compete in multiplayer Showdowns and so much more besides.

Some of that aforementioned new content will include an update that launches next week which sees improvements made to the Bounty Hunter role. There will be new criminals to track down, some prestigious equipment and skills to unlock, 10 more Bounty Hunter ranks to progress through and the usual 100 rank Outlaw Pass.

So How Much Will It Cost?

When the standalone version of Red Dead Online launches on December 1st for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S, it’ll cost a measly $4.99. However, this is 75% off the regular asking price for the Online standalone, with the introductory offer lasting until February 15th, 2021. There will also be the option of Online owners to buy the Story Mode separately, hopefully at a bit of a reduced price. Be warned though, as Red Dead Online will take up 123GB of space on your hard drive or SSD.
