WWE has dropped huge news today, revealing that former World Heavyweight Champion and one of the company’s most popular ever stars, Rey Mysterio, will be returning to WWE on a full-time basis.
The Ultimate Underdog’s return will commence next week on SmackDown Live’s 1000th episode, when he faces the United States Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura, in a qualifying match as part of the WWE World Cup where the eventual winner will be crowned at the Crown Jewel PPV.
Further to that, Mysterio will also be appearing on upcoming live event dates in the US and UK, including Cardiff, Aberdeen and Birmingham.
Mysterio hasn’t shied away from action since his last WWE appearance at Greatest Royal Rumble, having recently competed at ALL IN when he teamed up with Rey Fenix and Bandido against The Young Bucks and Kota Ibushi.
What role he’ll play in the grander scheme of things remains uncertain, but it seems as of we’ll be seeing Mysterio as part of the SmackDown brand for now.
