REVIEW: John and Jacob @ Stereo Cafe Bar

John and Jacob in concert

Country duo John and Jacob have been supporting their fellow country artists on nearly every show within the UK, and it was only until recently they had their very own headline tour around Britain.

The boys played shows in London, Manchester and Glasgow and sold out both London and Manchester with Glasgow being very close to a sell-out also. They have had great success in the UK through radio air time as well as supporting big-name country acts like The Band Perry and Kacey Musgraves on their UK tours. They also co-wrote The Band Perry’s number 1 hit “Done” with the brothers of the band which brought them great success throughout America.

I was lucky enough to get tickets for their Glasgow show, and I have to say that it was one of the best gigs I had ever attended, and I’ve attended a lot of gigs. John and Jacob are known for their live energy and certainly know how to party with a crowd as well as keep their attention through slower and more personal songs. They said throughout the show that they were “happy jamming with us and playing as much music as possible if that was okay” which the crowd seemed very happy about. They sang some of their best-known songs as well as songs you would only hear at their live shows.

They had a great atmosphere and energy buzzing from the beginning with their support act being UK country duo “Holloway Road.” The boys even stood in the crowd with us as we watched Holloway Road play and then Holloway Road stood in the crowd for John and Jacob’s set, giving the crowd a very comfortable, chilled feeling throughout the show.

The boys also sang their last song in the centre of the audience and had people at the front singing verses along with them which also made us feel at one with them as they performed. After their last, very intimate performance the boys ran to the merchandise stand to meet a few fans and sign some albums. I was lucky enough to meet both of the boys for the second time, after seeing them live at Kacey Musgraves’ show a few months previous and they were as lovely as the first time. They are so genuine and thankful for fans going out of their way to listen to their music live, and that shows while speaking to them.

Country music may not be your favoured genre, but John and Jacob make it feel like home by rocking out with you. Their live energy will captivate you and before you know it you’ll be tapping your foot along to the beat.
