Every soldier in Red Solstice 2: Survivors is a one-man army, carrying enough equipment to tackle most combat situations. Though a good team and an understanding of classes can help with mission success, all marines can be augmented and equipped with a variety of weapons and modules increasing their own individual effectiveness. This tutorial will cover all equipment types available to soldiers.
Here are the five equipment types in Red Solstice 2:
– Primary Weapon
– Secondary Weapon
– Offensive Module
– Defensive Module
– Support Module
And here’s everything you need to know about equipment in Red Solstice 2.
Primary Weapon
The primary weapon is the main combat tool that all soldiers will rely on and, most importantly, the only weapon available for overwatch, where the soldier will autofire on the nearest enemy. Primary weapons can range from standard assault rifles, to quick firing submachine guns all the way to powerful energy weapons.
Secondary Weapon
Secondary weapons are the trump cards and specialist weapons for each soldier. These are usually less conventional weapons, such as heavy shotguns, flamethrowers, and sniper rifles. Most importantly, these weapons can only be manually aimed and have limited ammo, so it’s wise to use them sparingly.
Offensive Module
Players can augment or add new offensive abilities with the offensive module upgrades. These can be simple stat upgrades or even new active abilities, like giving a soldier an active energy blade to protect themselves in close quarters.
Defensive Module
Defensive modules are similar to offensive modules but are instead focused on improving the survivability of the soldier. Some examples can be extra armor plating, health regeneration, or systems that buff the soldier in cover.
Support Module
Support modules typically cover miscellaneous needs that don’t directly pertain to causing damage or increasing survivability. The quintessential support modules are the ammo extender or space extender modules, allowing soldiers to carry more ammo or bring heavier weapons.
The core of any mission in Red Solstice 2 is the effectiveness of the player’s soldiers. Kitting out each marine appropriately could mean efficiently completing objectives or just barely scraping by to reach the evacuation point. Now that you have a rundown of soldier equipment, it’s up to you to gear up and take the fight to the enemy.
